They don’t accept corporate advertising (NO), only passionate donations. Slow Food  PROVES it can be done everywhere, NOW,  simple:  better tasting; healthier for all of us and the environment; and enriches and sustains local independent food – green jobs.  SlowFoodUSA.org has more great  resources.

-  Fast & French Cafe –  Also called Gaulart & Malicet Cafe at 98 Broad St.  843-577-9797.  Authentic French Cuisine and Art Advocates for a better engaging community!  They often auction dinners/wine for FUNdraisers (helped me with KidsFair).  Inexpensive fresh soups & salads, and moderately priced dinners, French Escargots, Bouillabaisse, Thursday Fondue, wine! Definitely a trendy place to see and be seen by Charleston & Intl Jetsetters.

-  The Black Bean -  116 Spring St  843-277-0990  Sharp owner Ellis Grossman, exemplary young native social entrepreneur and grad from Culinary Institute of Charleston, was quick to jump at fun healthy foodie events to inspire kids that tasty food is healthy! He is working with me to sponsor and have a food booth serving at KidsFair on Mar 13 at the Gaillard, 10,000 – 12,000 kids/parents – join us!

-  Remedy Market - at 162 Spring St.  843-793-3003  Just what the Doctor ordered – great healthy food, local CSA pick-up, and a glass of wine or beer each day is good for the spirit, too. Many Saturdays, they have live music in the back in their veggie garden. The artsy owner, Billy, has a super trendy supportive community following. Really cool, wide eyed, smiles, and hellos from everyone. Take your kids early for “super power” smoothies!

-  Dellz Deli -  1 A Cannon St next to upper Kings St.  828-722-5376  11am – 8pm (late nite weekends) The food is amazingly tasty/Zing,  healthy/Wow, and affordable/ChaChing. Dellz vibe is really easy, laid back, and cool & warm <– how can it be cool & warm? Just go! AND TAKE YOU KIDS after school for an awesome affordable fast take home picnic dinner!

-  Patat Spot Cafe – Friet & Falafel <– 11am to 6pm Sun, to 10pm Mon-Thur, to midnight Fri & Sat (41B George St, 843-723-7438). The late night glow feels like a “Portal” to Amsterdam. Those who’ve traveled/lived in Europe & Israel can travel/live here in Charleston; conveniently afford tasty diverse salad bar items/recipes; and get a daily healthy fix (fresh Baba Ganush, Guacamole, etc). Phillis is a fun owner with enlightening ”clean/green” cooking & Friets (as well as diverse outreach efforts to help Charleston & the World).

- HUSK  Restaurant – That sucking sound could be your mouth watering,  his local piglets, or this HUGE  MAGNET <– the attraction draws the world to Charleston and James Beard Award winner Chef Sean Brock. Personally, he is genuine and not staged, and his visionary concept electrifies everyone who earns a joyous ride on his chuckwagon.
